Glen E. Stanley

Lake Monticello, VA

For Glen wood turning is a passion, a passion that began decades ago when he turned his first bowl in Wood Shop class in high school located in Crete, IL. It wasn’t until later in life after serving honorably in the U.S. Navy and raising two children with his wife Jo Ann, having a career in engineering, and remodeling homes Glen has found his way back to his passion. For more than a decade Glen has spent any extra time he has advancing his skills and harnessing the true art of Wood Turning.

Glen is active in his local Wood Turners Club and gains a lot of insight and inspiration from his peers. Our Artisan has also been an active maker of wood turned boxes for Beads of Courage which is an inspiring support program for children with serious illnesses.

When Glen begins a new piece he says “Being able to create, finding out what is inside the tree, that is what inspires me.” Glens goes on to share that “Once [the wood] is there it takes it’s own life.” Glen’s family and friends have been able to benefit greatly from his art in the form of curating their own private collections of his works. After many many years of being asked to please bring his handcrafted work to the public Glen has humbly agreed.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our shop! We hope you enjoy your one of a kind work by Glen Stanley who “Does this for the love of the craft.”
